Same Thing Everyday
Max Fleury and Bena Jackson

Wading through the treacherous waters of public scrutiny, bureaucracy, and overflow from the Cuba Street Bucket Fountain, Same thing every day checks in on public artworks in Pōneke and Tāmaki Makaurau. Using material found and gathered via personal interviews and site visits, the videos consider how public art enlivens, detracts from, or simply exists in daily life. Max Fleury and Bena Jackson have attempted to comprehend what the perfect public artwork might be.

Max and Bena grew up in the same town, but didn’t meet until their first week at art school in 2015. They have since collaborated on a number of projects, including One Who Goes Quickly for Circuit’s Masons Screen and Home Depot for Play_Station online.
