Queer phenomenologies are seldom represented in film beyond narratives of trauma and/or sexual awakening. As it stands, expanded queer experience struggles to be portrayed authentically in moving-image as, historically, these identities were not considered during film's development and formation. In order to create space for representation of queer identities, one must unlearn the already exhausted heteronormative tropes at play in cinema and performance, and attempt to reimagine the medium from the ground up.
