Permanent Housekeeper
Cait Johnson

Permanent Housekeeper enquires into histories of reproductive labour, beginning with the personal and unravelling outwards. The relationship between the artist’s great-grandparents, the history of colonisation in Aotearoa and slavery in North America’s Deep South are addressed in relation to the domestic, framed by marxist feminist theory. As the reader is guided through these texts, linkages are suggested and distances are compressed between these varied contexts.
